SCUBA is for people who want to live an adventurous lifestyle and experience the freedom of life underwater. It is for those who seek simplicity and want to experience a closeness with nature. For those who are more technically oriented, SCUBA offers a myriad of technical gadgets and advanced training. SCUBA is a wonderful couple and family sport and is a great way for singles to meet new buddies.
To be a scuba diver, you need to be comfortable in the water and be able to swim. You don’t need to be a strong swimmer, but being in the water should not cause you stress. The age for diving today ranges from 10 years old to senior adults. Under water, age is hardly an issue. Being in basic good health is the only other requirement.
Why Choose Adventure Sports For Your Training?
The answer lies in our instructor staff. Our staff of 12 instructors has been hand picked for their teaching skills and their ability to relate to new divers. Successful in their own careers, they chose SCUBA diving as a hobby first and later became instructors because of a need to share their love of the sport with others. It’s that enthusiasm for SCUBA that makes the Adventure Sports training experience unique.
ADVENTURE SPORTS trains in a private Junior Olympic-sized pool that is large enough to teach all the required skills you need to know to become a safe and accomplished diver. SCUBA diving is much more than learning to move up and down in the water. Learning how to move through the water horizontally while maintaining a comfortable distance from the coral reef and other divers is the key to a safe and fun diving experience. Practicing that skill requires a big training pool. We have it.
ADVENTURE SPORTS open water training is conducted at Beaver Lake, in Arkansas. A four-hour drive from Kansas City gets you to the clearest, most beautiful lake in this part of the country. What sets us apart is that we offer bed-and-breakfast style lodging at no extra charge in our spacious house right at the water’s edge. We also have a professional dive training boat, which will accommodate large groups of divers with ease. Here we will prepare you for the kind of diving you will be doing after you complete your certification. The two nights’ lodging and two days’ boat diving, is a dive trip that is not only a lot of fun, but specifically prepares you for your future diving trips.
ADVENTURE SPORTS teaches the SSI and PADI training programs. Take your pick. They are equally recognized. It’s our instructors who make the difference!
What Equipment Do You Need?
All you need to get started is a mask, snorkel, fins and boots. All other SCUBA equipment can be rented during the course. Once certified, you may want to own some or all of your own SCUBA gear. Active divers do. The occasional diver may want to rent gear at Adventure Sports, although every diver does better with equipment they own and are familiar with.
SCUBA gear can be purchased through any number of sources, but your best bet is to purchase your gear through the dive shop you look to for training, travel and service support. Lets face it, those who do business with Adventure Sports get the perks (free stuff , free service and valuable advice) that the “bargain” shoppers never see.
